The spacing cost lands on the frame
This is the line most composite estimates miss entirely. If the board requires 12-inch centres where you would otherwise have framed at 16, you are buying roughly a third more joists, a third more hangers and a third more hanger nails — and the labour to hang them.

Clips are a per-crossing item
One clip per board per joist. On a deck with twenty-six rows and thirteen joists that is over three hundred clips before you count the starter and finish pieces, and at typical per-clip prices it is a line worth seeing rather than absorbing.
Most systems also require face screws at butt joints and at the first and last board, so budget a small box of colour-matched screws even on a fully hidden deck. That detail is in the maker's instruction and it is easy to discover on the day you needed them.
Comparing honestly against wood
